Composer/Lyricist

Back O'Town

Back O'Town centers on a family of three Black women, a grandmother, a mother, and a daughter, and their community in the aftermath of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in New Orleans. Featuring musical styles ranging from New Orleans styles jazz to hip-hop and musical theatre, the story explores themes of Southern Blackness, incarceration, and community healing.

Run time: 120 minutes

Midtown International Theatre Festival. New York City, NY. July 2017.
Musical Forum Spring Show. Providence, RI. April 2017.
"Reifler’s writing deftly plays with rhyme, both in song and out...The music of
Back O’ Town is playful (“Bah-Duh”), mournful (“The Memorial Blues”) and hopeful (“Louis’ Wonderful World”). So are the characters; so is the story."
 -Caroline Sprague (The Blognonian)

Goldilocks

An unconventional twist on the children's tale, Goldilocks follows the relationship between Paul and Lisa, a young couple getting married sooner than expected due to a pregnancy. As Paul tries to figure out who he is, he stumbles into the drag scene and becomes Goldilocks, a drag queen performing with his “three bears.” The relationship is tested as Paul explores his new passion.

Run time: 45 minutes

Thespis Theater Festival. New York City, NY. August 2016.
Mini Musical Festival. Providence, RI. March 2015.
"Reifler’s songs have everything you could want in a musical comedy. They’re fun, they’re catchy...From 60s-era girl group (and girl power) songs to sneeringly unapologetic, self-adulating ballads, the variety of styles is as impressive as the amount of humor infused into each number."
 -Marti Sichel (Woman Around Town)

The Trombone Lesson

A music student finally stands up to her teacher who is stuck in his classical ways and the teacher takes a turn to listen and learn.
